For 25 years, the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) has been helping build a healthier, more affordable, and more sustainable future across Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Since our founding in 2001, we’ve worked alongside utilities, policymakers, businesses, Tribal Nations, local governments, and community organizations to advance practical energy solutions that lower costs, reduce pollution, strengthen the electric grid, and improve quality of life throughout the region.
Throughout 2026, we’re celebrating this milestone with a series of anniversary events the Southwest. Following an incredible kickoff celebration in Boulder, Colorado, SWEEP will continue the celebration with additional events in Arizona, Nevada (two events), and Santa Fe, New Mexico, where we’ll gather the evening before our annual Southwest Utility Energy Efficiency Workshop.
Over the past quarter century, SWEEP has helped transform energy policy throughout the region. We’ve influenced hundreds of state laws and regulatory decisions, helped utilities dramatically expand energy efficiency investments, advanced stronger building energy codes, accelerated electric vehicle deployment and charging infrastructure, championed beneficial electrification, improved energy affordability for income-qualified households, partnered with Tribal communities, and helped unlock billions of dollars in clean energy investments.
