The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) is a public-interest nonprofit organization advancing energy efficiency, beneficial electrification, and clean transportation in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
In collaboration with utilities, state and local governments, environmental and community groups, businesses, national laboratories, federal agencies, and other energy experts, SWEEP promotes programs, policies, and funding, to help mitigate climate change, lend support to underserved, low-income communities, and save people money on energy bills and transportation costs.
SWEEP was founded in 2001. Under SWEEP’s leadership, the Southwest region has made great strides in improving energy efficiency, avoiding new power plants, and reducing emissions over the past 22 years.
Funding for SWEEP is provided primarily by charitable foundations, federal agencies, business allies, and major donors.
