In December 2022, SWEEP — along with our partners, Allies, sponsors, guests, and friends — held its19th Annual Southwest Utility Energy Efficiency Workshop. This event provided attendees with opportunities to hear the latest on DSM program development from the region’s utilities, learn about emerging energy efficiency technologies and program designs, climate advocacy and energy equity in underserved communities, transportation electrification, and a lot more.

The December 2022 Workshop allowed for plenty of opportunities to network with regional utility, regulatory, state, and nonprofit representatives.

Goals achieved at the workshop include:

• Overall updates on the latest DSM developments and trends in the Southwest;
• Opportunities presented by utility DSM managers who discussed the major challenges and opportunities they’re facing today; and
• A forum for workshop attendees to connect and discuss the nuts and bolts of program design to maximize the benefits of DSM for low-income, vulnerable, and energy-burdened customers by highlighting some best practice examples.
• The challenges and opportunities presented with the siting and implementation of electrification in buildings and transportation.

Leadership in Energy Efficiency Awards

SWEEP values these opportunities to share information between like-minded organizations as utility energy efficiency efforts in the region expand and as new challenges and opportunities arise. Every year, we bring together utilities, state policymakers, energy efficiency program providers, and other stakeholders from the region with the shared goal of advising utilities on how to stay on the cutting edge of energy efficiency program and policy developments.
