To meet the state’s climate goals, Colorado must rapidly clean up transportation-related GHG pollution. Transportation is now surpassing electricity generation as the largest source of climate-changing pollution in Colorado and without bold policy action, it will continue to be the largest emitter. To hit the GHG targets, Colorado must reduce transportation emissions by 40% by 2030 through a combination of vehicle electrification, low-carbon fuels, more fuel-efficient vehicles, and reductions in vehicle-miles-traveled (VMT).
