Streamlined Permitting & Inspections: Solar, Storage, EV Charging Lessons Learned

March 26, 2024 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

With the increased funding available for the growth of solar, energy storage, and electric vehicles, the number of permit applications for these technologies will continue to steadily increase, and so will the workload for staff of local governments. In this webinar, learn about available resources to streamline these permitting and inspection processes, and key lessons learned through a recent pilot in Arizona and Massachusetts. Each participant will receive:

  • Comprehensive permitting and inspection guidelines for single family, multifamily, and office PV, energy storage, and EV supply equipment
  • Suggested requirements for permit submission – Sample permit applications
  • Plan review checklist
  • Field inspection checklist
  • Sample standard electrical line diagrams

This will be an interactive webinar. Participants will have the opportunity to let panelists know how you might use available tools like these to save time and improve consistency.

Note: The permitting and inspection guides are only applicable to the installation of PV systems smaller than 15 kW and lithium-ion energy storage systems with total maximum energy capacity on-site of 600kWh.

The program agenda will include:

  1. Overview of the pilot program
  2. Tour of the guides: solar, energy storage and electric vehicle charging infrastructure for single family homes, multifamily homes, and office applications
  3. Review of sample permit applications
  4. Best practices for implementing a new permit and inspection process
  5. Who to involve in the permitting process
  6. Tips to conduct an efficient inspection
  7. Lessons learned from jurisdictions who had access to the guides
  8. Interactive audience Q&A
