No parking required: Ending costly parking mandates

February 8, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

In this webinar presented by the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) and YIMBY Denver, we are hosting a dynamic discussion amongst experts in the field who will review implications for housing and the environment. Additionally, a prominent figure in the Colorado state legislature, Representative Stephanie Vigil, will share insights on reform efforts she is leading during the current session.

During the webinar, we will explore:

  • The impact on housing: Parking mandates often inflate housing costs, restrict affordable housing possibilities, and perpetuate urban sprawl. Discover how eliminating these mandates can foster more inclusive and affordable housing options for our communities.
  • Environmental sustainability: The environmental footprint of parking mandates extends far beyond the space they occupy. Learn about the environmental benefits of reducing parking requirements and creating more walkable, transit-friendly neighborhoods.
  • Legislative perspectives: Gain insight into current efforts at the Colorado legislature aimed at reforming parking mandates.
  • Opportunities for action: Learn how YOU can affect change for the better in Colorado today.
