SUMMARY:BEL-CO Colorado Electrification Infrastructure Summit
DESCRIPTION:  \nVIEW THE WEBINAR \nAll the major utilities in Colorado are now offering substantial rebates for heat pumps and heat pump water heaters (HPWHs)\, and state and federal tax credits are also available. In addition\, new low-cost financing options are becoming readily available\, making energy efficiency and electrification improvements even more attractive. \nMany HVAC contractors and plumbers have attended training sessions on proper installation and maintenance of heat pumps and HPWHs. Not surprisingly\, we are seeing many new installations of electric space and water heating in new and existing homes\, and we expect this to grow in the next 5-10 years. What will be the impact of all this on our electrical grid? Are utilities properly planning for the additional generation and distribution resources that will be needed at some point? \nJoin us for this free 60-minute webinar for a discussion of the key points on the potential grid impacts of building electrification in Colorado\, based on our utilities’ own recent studies and other research\, as well as best practices to minimize those impacts. We will also provide important updates on a new on-bill repayment program being offered by a growing number of utilities through the Colorado Clean Energy Fund.

SUMMARY:ACEEE National Conference on Energy Efficiency as a Resource
DESCRIPTION:VIEW SWEEP’S PRESENTATION\nThe 2023 Energy Efficiency as Resource (EER) conference in Philadelphia was a big success! Attendees explored how efficiency efforts have expanded and evolved amid a transforming utility industry. After the 2021 online event\, EER was back in person in October 2023 for the first time and brought together a diverse group of nearly 450 attendees—an EER record!—including the nation’s leading players in the utility energy efficiency arena\, including attendees from utilities and program administrators\, regulatory commissions\, state government\, consultants\, manufacturers\, environmental organizations\, consumer groups\, and research institutions. \nEER was again the premier U.S. conference on policies and programs focused on reducing utility customers’ energy waste and helping utilities meet climate goals and infrastructure challenges. Together\, we strategized using innovative technologies and policies to enable efficiency programs that delivered more significant greenhouse gas reductions\, improved bill affordability and health for low-income customers and embraced more electrified and grid-interactive equipment in our homes and buildings.

SUMMARY:Electrify your home in 2023
DESCRIPTION:With natural gas prices high and federal and state tax credits in place\, 2023 is a great year to explore adding a new heat pump to your home. In this webinar\, the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) highlights the key points to consider in electrifying both new and existing homes — for homeowners\, new homebuyers\, and HVAC contractors\, as well as utilities\, local governments\, and new homebuilders. Also highlighted are the federal and state tax credits and utility rebates\, which will more than cover the cost of replacing/upgrading your central AC to a heat pump system to deliver heating and cooling to your home. The webinar shows examples of homes making this type of upgrade\, and of all-electric new homes with very low energy costs and excellent indoor air quality. \nVIEW PRESENTATION SLIDES \nWATCH THE WEBINAR:

SUMMARY:Energy equity: Bringing the benefits of our fight against climate change to frontline communities
DESCRIPTION:As climate change brings more devastating impacts to the Southwest\, it’s more important than ever to include low-income and frontline communities in climate action plans. We will not reach our climate goals if we do not include this large segment of the population in these strategic plans. More importantly\, frontline communities are often the first to feel the impacts of global warming and the group to experience the worst of those impacts. It is vital that we focus on inclusion of these communities in all of SWEEP’s carbon reduction work. \nIn this webinar\, SWEEP’s Tammy Fiebelkorn and New Mexico Representative Kristina Ortez discussed this important focus and highlighted program and policy examples that assist low-income communities to reduce carbon emissions\, reduce their energy costs\, and improve public health. \nWATCH THE WEBINAR\n\nVIEW THE PRESENTATION SLIDES \nRepresentative Ortez and Tammy work together on a variety of programs and policies to fight climate change and help frontline communities. They created and received legislative approval for the Community Energy Efficiency Development Block Grant Act in New Mexico which provides energy burden reductions for frontline communities via energy efficiency and beneficial electrification; and they also passed legislation providing tax credits\, which double for low-income people\, for improving the energy efficiency of homes.
