State and Local Government Assistance

SWEEP provides assistance to state and local governments on a wide range of issues related to energy efficiency policy and programs, including assisting with:

  • Preparation of state energy efficiency strategies;
  • Preparation of state transportation efficiency strategies;
  • Support for strategic relationship-building between local governments and their utilities;
  • Analysis of potential energy savings, economic benefits and environmental benefits from specific energy efficiency initiatives;
  • Advice or technical assistance to state energy offices and local energy programs;
  • Assistance in creating and implementing specific energy efficiency programs;
  • Advice concerning potential energy efficiency legislation;
  • Advice and technical support related to building energy codes; and
  • Participation in workshops or trainings pertaining to energy efficiency.
