Staff Biography for David Ellenberger

David Ellenberger is the Communications Director for the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project.

Before joining SWEEP, he worked with the National Wildlife Federation as the Rocky Mountain Regional Campaigns Manager and involved members and supporters in advocacy campaigns to advance protections for wildlife and habitat in the intermountain West.

Earlier, David has also worked for the Wildlife Conservation Society, Montana Conservation Voters and Sierra Club and served in many different capacities. He is a Climate Reality Project Leader that has been trained by Vice President Al Gore in working to address the climate crisis. He helped establish the local Denver/Boulder Chapter of the Climate Reality Project in 2018 and has mentored more than a hundred other leaders at various trainings across the country.

David grew up in Boise, ID and graduated from the College of Idaho with a B.S. in Zoology and minor in English.

During his free time, he loves to get outside with his dog Jake and explore the beauty of the Rockies and is also a season-ticket holder with the Colorado Rapids.
