Rural Electric Efficiency Prospects

Rural Electric Efficiency Prospects evaluates the opportunities to improve the efficiency of electricity use in the rural areas of Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming. Mainly focused on residential and commercial buildings that account for 80% of the electrical load in the Southwest, the report determines that energy use and associated costs can be reduced by 20-40% by employing a wide range of no-cost, low-cost and investment-grade energy efficiency measures and practices. Rural electric cooperatives and municipal utilities are in the best position to lead the campaign as they can reap the economic benefits and enhance the services offered to their customers and members.
