Building Energy Codes

Effective January 1, 2007, all new residential and commercial buildings built in Utah must comply with the minimum provisions of the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). This is the latest “good practice” building energy code that energy-conscious states are following.

IECC training and resources are provided to builders and local building code departments through the Utah Energy Conservation Coalition’s Energy Rated Homes program. A home energy rating certificate from Energy Rated Homes of Utah is just one way for builders to demonstrate compliance with the code.

Visit the website of the International Code Council at www.iccsafe.org for up-to-date jurisdictional adoption information.
