Nevada

Building Energy Codes

Nevada’s statewide energy code for new residential and commercial buildings is based on the 2006 International Energy Conservation Code. The 2006 IECC became mandatory in June 2008 for all jurisdictions that have not adopted an energy code; most if not all local governmental entities are already covered by the 2006 IECC. Jurisdictions in southern Nevada – including Boulder City, Clark County, Henderson, Las Vegas, Mesquite, and North Las Vegas – have adopted the 2006 Southern Nevada Energy Code, which is based on the 2006 IECC with local amendments; this code came into effect on May 1, 2007. Communities in Northern Nevada have also adopted the 2006 IECC. Visit the website of the International Code Council at www.iccsafe.org  for up-to-date jurisdictional adoption information.
