22 Businesses Join SWEEP Allies Program

The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) announced the launch of its Allies Program today, with 22 energy efficiency businesses or business organizations participating so far in 2014, the inaugural year for the program.  These companies are helping SWEEP advance its mission to increase energy efficiency and thereby save households and businesses money while improving the environment in the Southwest.

SWEEP is a public interest organization working in Ariz., Colo., Nev., NM, Utah and Wyo.

“We are extremely grateful for the support shown by the 22 companies and industry organizations that have joined our 2014 Allies Program,” said Howard Geller, executive director of SWEEP. “These companies embrace the idea that the cleanest and least expensive BTU or kWh is the one never used due to greater energy efficiency.”

Through their financial support, business Allies enable SWEEP to work on increasing investments in utility energy efficiency programs in the Southwest, expand its work with state and local governments, and increase efforts to improve energy efficiency in the transportation sector.

Inaugural members of the SWEEP Allies Program are:

  • ACS Energy
  • ADM Associates, Inc.
  • CLEAResult

SWEEP has a record of success:  The non-profit helped to increase funding for electric utility energy efficiency and load management programs in the Southwest from $21 million in 2001 to $375 million in 2013. This increase, along with other energy efficiency initiatives that SWEEP contributed to, has in turn increased business for companies such as those that have joined the Allies Program.

Through its Allies Program, SWEEP has an opportunity to work more closely with companies that are manufacturing and delivering energy-efficient products and services to consumers.
