Jordan School District

The Jordan School District is the largest of Utah’s 40 school districts. The district spends $8 million annually purchasing energy. Since 1995, the district has made a conscious effort to incorporate energy efficiency measures into thirteen new facilities as well as to retrofit existing buildings. Half of all Jordan schools have installed T-8 lamps, replaced the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, or retrofit walls and modular classrooms. The school district saved over $100,000 due to these energy efficiency improvements as of 2000.

The U.S. EPA recently gave its Energy Star® designation to two of the District’s schools, noting that they are in the top 25% on energy performance compared to other schools nationwide.
