Overview
The
Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) conducted a series of workshops
on constructing and selling high performance homes, including 'zero energy'
homes that combine high levels of energy efficiency with solar or renewable
energy systems. The workshops were conducted with support from the US DOE
Building America program.
Objective
The
objective of each workshop was to provide an overview of the design
characteristics and features of high performance homes, technical assistance
resources for the home building industry, and information on strategies for
marketing and selling high performance homes. There were opportunities to
learn about:
- The design characteristics and
features of high performance and 'zero-energy' homes
- Financial and technical
assistance resources for the home building industry
- Strategies for marketing and
selling high performance homes
Intended Audience
The
workshops were intended for the residential homebuilding industry and other
organizations that are interested in achieving significant improvements the
energy efficiency of new homes, including:
- Homebuilders, developers,
architects and engineers
- Residential energy efficiency
specialists
- Local government officials
