Staff Biography for Jim Meyers
Jim Meyers is Senior Associate, Director of Buildings Efficiency Program for
the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP), where he works on building
energy code advancements. Jim is responsible for conducting analysis, preparing
case studies, evaluating new and emerging technologies for buildings and
promoting the adoption of state-of-the-art building energy codes.
Jim has worked in multiple sectors of the energy field by starting his working
career in the generation of power via fuel cells and more recently through
energy efficiency of the built environment and new construction. Previous to his
current position Jim was a regional manager for an insulation trade association
where he worked with regional efficiency alliances, state energy offices, and
other organizations to support the adoption of advanced energy codes. Prior to
this position Jim was the Technical Director for E-Star Colorado where he
directed the Home Energy Rating program and building energy codes advancement in
Colorado.
Jim's knowledge spans multiple industries with four years as a fuel cell
engineer, twelve years in the HERS rating industry with hundreds of energy
ratings under his belt, a stint in the dot com industry, and work in the green
building and home performance industries. Meyers is a certified Energy Rater,
and certified Rater Trainer. He has provided energy code technical trainings and
compliance software training, building science trainings to builders and trades,
and HERS Energy Rater trainings. Jim actively participates in International Code
Council committees and the Residential Energy Services Network. Jim is also the
author of an energy conservation book and was the publisher of a website
dedicated to the incentives from the 2005 Energy Policy Act (EPAct). Meyers
received his Engineering degree from San Jose State University. |
