Staff Biography for Curtis Framel
Curtis Framel coordinates SWEEP’s technical
assistance to ARRA grant recipients in the Southwest
region, and facilitates information exchange, outreach
and education activities. Curtis joined SWEEP after 15
years of federal service with the DOE Office of Energy
Efficiency and Renewable Energy, USDA Natural Resource
Conservation Service, and Department of Interior Bureau
of Land Management. With the DOE in both the Seattle,
Washington and Golden, Colorado Field Offices, Curtis’s
responsibilities included coordination of national and
regional energy programs such as Wind Powering America,
Million Solar Roofs and GeoPowering the West. He also
served as Team Lead for the Federal Energy Management
and Advanced Water Power Programs, including Marine
Hydrokinetic technologies.
Among his previous career assignments, Curtis
served as the manager of an Energy Information
Clearinghouse with the Washington State Energy Office,
providing national and regional information to energy
professionals. Curtis was also assigned to the State
Energy Office in Nevada for 13 years, where he was
responsible for multi-faceted energy programs in the
residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and
transportation sectors. Additionally he coordinated the
state energy education and outreach efforts for those
client groups. Curtis received his Bachelor of Science
in Natural Resource Planning.
